This page features some of the documents created by Roger Kenner over the years. These documents are cited for historical reasons. None are up-to-date. (A ruling by my former employer, Concordia University, prevents me from listing any documents produced in the course of my work there.)
- CALL-IS: Computer Assisted Language Learning Interest Section of TESOL
(Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages)
Latest Update: 2003
I was a founding member of this special interest section within TESOL, back in 1984, 85 and served as chair of the group in 1986. I served as software librarian for CALL-IS during the early Nineties, until CD-ROMs and the Web made this position redundant. I was for several years the historian of the organization (hence one of the documents below.) CALL-IS has remained a very active sub-group within TESOL and recently celebrated its 25th anniversary at the TESOL Converntion in Denver, Colorado in 2009.
- Thesis: Authoring Systems
Latest Update: 1986
Computer-Assisted Language Learning was my first professional interest, and within that the concept of authoring system. This became the subject of my master's thesis in 1986. I continue to work with the modern heir of those early authoring systems, now in the form of learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle.
