Sunday, July 7, 2002: Ride Along River & Canal
It was the weekend before my big, summer ride. I set off from home, to meet the Lachine Canal at Ville St. Pierre. I rode down to the Lachine Locks, where I found, for the first time, boaters getting ready to enter the Canal. I then left the Canal and rode down along the River, stopping briefly to see Audrey in Verdun. I rode over and around Nun's Island, then over the Ice Bridge to the Seaway Dyke. I rode down to the St. Lambert Locks and back across the River to find myself in Old Montreal, at the harbour end of the Canal, where I saw more boaters. After riding out as far as the Clock Tower, I retraced my way and followed the Canal, with some side trips for photos, as far as the Notre Dame exit. I came over the bridge on the Turcot Yards and up Montreal-Toronto Road towards home.
